India, the spiritual capital

10 years from now India is sure to be a superpower, but what use will it be of, if it loses its virtue towards its long-run tradition and spirituality. Our mistake is that, like the western scientists, we too think that spiritual researches have nothing to do with materialization. But we must remember that our ancestors lived more happily than us and they were more cultured than us. Here, I mean those ancestors who lived some 2000 years and ago. Innovations in science and technology come only after inner spiritual intuition. We should remember that Einstein used his mind as his lab.
We have discovered many mysteries about human brain, but, still we have not mastered to use it to its full potential. Unlike other countries, India has rich amount wisdom in its Vedas. Have we understood the complete meaning of all Vedic verses? They contain infinite wisdom hidden in metaphors and symbols. If we could analyse them scientifically we can solutions to many problems of this world.
For example, consider the Yoga treatment, which cures many diseases without any medicine. We have started researches on yoga, Indian medicines and many other Indian practices. But, a massive revolution is needed now by which each developed country should start a University for spiritual studies.
We know that India is the home of greatest Yogis of the world. Their writings have revealed that we have they treasure box, but, have not opened it. Sri Paramahansa Yoganandha, the author of Autobiography of a Yogi, said that India has lost the knowledge of balancing material and spiritual life. The West knows how to triumph materially and the East knows how to be spiritually successful, both having ignored the other side. But India had known that balancing art long ago and it is the right time to make her remember of her past knowledge with help of advancement in science.
Swami Yukteshwar (guru of Sri Paramahansa Yoganandha) calculated the cyclic pattern of Yugas. We know that there are four Yugas and we know only that. Many of us have been thinking that, we are now in Kali Yuga, the worse among the four. Though scriptures specify the period of Kali Yuga as 1200 years, some scholars say that they meant “years of gods”, where each year has 360 ordinary years. That concludes the length of Kali Yuga as 432,000 years, which is wrong.
According to the correct calculations of Swami Yukteshwar, the period of each Yuga is:
Kali à1200 years
Dwapara à2400 years
Treta à3600 years
Satya à4800 years
By his calculations we are now living in Dwapara Yuga, the electrical age as quoted by Sri Paramahansa Yoganandha. In the collection of his talks, The Divine Romance, he says: “…..we are about 240 years into Dwapara Yuga, the second age, which consists of 2400 years. Now in its ascendancy, this is the electrical age, even though it may yet seem materialistic……In this age, man will make great headway in the electrical or electromagnetic field of science.
As Dwapara Yuga progresses, diseases will be treated and healed more and more by rays. Vibratory energy can reach the electronic factors of the atoms, the building blocks of matter, where gross chemicals cannot penetrate. After this war, you will see a great surge of development in electrical science. Aviation will develop tremendously also.”(This talk was given during World War II.)
From this we can realize that we have the keys of wisdom with us, without using them. Vedas are not just soothsayers, but, they are solutions to practical problems of this world. So, creating research centres to study them in relation with modern practices of technology will surely unveil advanced technologies ahead of our age.
Imagine a world were people could live healthy and wealthy, just by changing their thought pattern. By changing the thought pattern and by scientific approach to our ancient Vedic literature, we can achieve this. But, I am sure that this idea is purely scientific and not irrelevant to materialistic approach. Until we are sure about something, we do not accept into scientific category. Consider the simple example of flooring with cow dung. Scientists have now accepted the microbiological thinking of our ancestors. I do not mean that we should go back to such extent, but, we should realize that there is a way which would make us lead a satisfied, successful, advanced life at a very low cost. We have ignored it so far.
To brief, I think that research on unleashing the mysteries of human brain and his psychic, physiological nature based on Vedas will lead to an advanced life of our people in this world.
